Description

This project aims to determine if inhibition of the p38MAPK/JNK pathways can prevent cisplatin-induced neuronal apoptosis and damage, leading to attenuation of cognitive impairments, gait changes, and neuropathic pain associated with chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). The approach includes in vitro analysis of neuronal cell lines, behavioral analysis using sensory testing for CIPN, cognitive testing, and gait analysis in female mice using two cancer models. The studies will demonstrate the role of p38MAPK and JNK in cisplatin-induced CRCI/CIPN and explore translational strategies to treat these side effects, focusing on improving quality of life for women with cancer.
