Description
This project aims to conduct a fully-powered randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Multi-component family Intervention to Lower depression and Address intimate Partner violence (MILAP) among young women in Nepal. The intervention involves engaging women experiencing IPV, their husbands, and mothers-in-law to improve mental health outcomes and reduce IPV. The pilot study showed a significant reduction in moderate depression from 46% to 4% over three months. The study will include 300 triads (young women reporting IPV, their husbands, and their mothers-in-law) over 12 months. It seeks to understand the mechanisms of intervention impact and conduct a costing analysis. The project builds on 16 years of successful global health research in Nepal.
