Description
One of the components of APPLE is to partner with New Jersey City University to establish a pathway for current Jersey City Public Schools school counselors to get graduate credits towards receiving their associate counselor license. NJCU's Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, School Psychology programs require a final year of internship training to prepare students to work in nonprofit and public health care, social service and/or behavioral health organizations, and schools that often serve clients of all ages who are at risk of developing or already have undiagnosed and/or untreated emotional or behavioral health disorders. With this partnership, NJCU seeks to increase the diversity and success of minority and low-income students in its Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and School Psychology graduate programs to close the gap in access to behavioral health care services in the medically underserved areas in our community.
