Research project studying how interactions among microbes and their adaptation within hosts affect catheter-associated urinary tract infections, focusing on biofilm formation, antibiotic resistance, and infection severity to improve treatment strategies.
Description
This project aims to determine the impact of microbe-microbe interactions and within-host adaptation on biofilm formation, antibiotic resistance, and infection severity for the three most common UTI pathogens in catheterized patients. The research seeks to identify new targets for disrupting antimicrobial resistance and progression of bacteriuria to disseminated infection and urosepsis.
