Description
This study proposes a new treatment involving weak electrical current applied via scalp electrodes to increase collateral blood flow to the brain and rescue brain tissue at risk of injury. The primary aim is to find an optimal dose that is safe and effective based on imaging biomarkers. It is a multi-site, phase 2a, randomized, sham-controlled, dose-optimization trial with Bayesian adaptive design enrolling up to 120 patients with cortical strokes and salvageable penumbra, ineligible for EVT, randomized to active or sham stimulation, with primary safety and efficacy endpoints based on imaging biomarkers.
