Description

The PhytoScholars program for the 2026 International Phytotechnologies conference in Providence Rhode Island will educate scholars on the impacts of phytotechnologies on public health and limiting exposures to disease agents. The program aims to educate PhytoScholars on science approaches and benefits of mitigating human exposures, and on implementing the science and technologies they learn. It also emphasizes community benefits, working with contaminated sites and waste treatment applications. Scholars will have opportunities to present original research, with manuscripts invited for publication in the International Journal of Phytoremediation, targeting a 2027 publication date. The program supports student participation by providing partial travel and lodging support for 12-20 scholars, who will interact with international leaders, present research, and receive mentorship. The objectives include increasing knowledge of phytotechnologies' roles in public health, risk assessment, and ecosystem function, as well as providing professional skills and networking opportunities.
