Research project comparing social network changes with age in humans and capuchin monkeys to understand social aging and its health implications.

Description

This project will examine how social networks vary with age in both humans and capuchin monkeys to determine whether social network narrowing is a uniquely human phenomenon or a general response to aging. By investigating how declines in cognitive function contribute to shifts in social behavior across species, and by linking these changes to biomarkers sensitive to aging and pathology, this research will provide insights into the health implications of social aging and help identify factors that promote healthy aging.
