Description

This NIH-funded research project focuses on unraveling the mechanisms that drive tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) formation and function in mouse models of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) by targeting differentiation and function of mucosa-resident (CX3CR1hi) macrophages shown to induce TLS. The study aims to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying TLS formation and function in IBD, focusing on the role of CX3CR1hi macrophages and their regulation by TNF signaling, to provide insights into IBD pathogenesis and identify potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
