Identifier

5R01HS028458-05

The award funds research to improve healthcare system preparedness for epidemic surges by developing and evaluating predictive models for hospital capacity and safety, using COVID-19 data and simulations to enhance future epidemic response.

Description

This project aims to refine, evaluate, and study the use, accuracy, and impact on patient, staff, and system safety of novel facility-specific 30-day ahead rolling bed, equipment, and staff surge capacity models. It evaluates performance under a wide range of past and future scenarios via retrospective COVID-19 data and prospective computer simulation of future epidemics. The project also studies model adoption, utility, accuracy, and impact on hospital capacity and safety.
