Development of a biosensor to detect Borrelia infections causing Lyme Disease using a specific protease biomarker.

Description

This project aims to develop a highly sensitive biosensor to detect active Borrelia burgdorferi infections, the causative agent of Lyme Disease. The biosensor will target the Bb protease, high temperature requirement A (BbHtrA), as a biomarker. The device will utilize covalent probes attached to epitaxial graphene to detect the bacteria in blood, urine, and synovial fluid samples.
