Leveraging innovative technologies in basic and clinical cancer research

The award funds a T32 training program at Stanford University focused on leveraging innovative technologies in cancer research to train predoctoral trainees to become independent leaders in cancer biology.

Description

This is the renewal application for the T32 training grant originally known as “Cancer Etiology, Prevention, Detection and Diagnosis,” which is in its 44th year, and which is entitled in the current application “Leveraging innovative technologies in basic and clinical cancer research”. The program has developed a thriving and robust training environment as well as an effective administrative infrastructure that has been very successful in attracting highly qualified trainees to Stanford University to be educated in cancer biology. During the next funding period, we propose to implement a new vision in which we incorporate innovative technologies into cancer research to enhance both the training and the research projects of our predoctoral trainees, helping them to become independent scientists that take research or clinical positions in academia, biotechnology industries, government laboratories, and the clinic, and to ultimately become leaders in the field of cancer biology.
