NIH K23 career development award supporting research and training to investigate how syphilis and its treatment affect placental biology and neonatal outcomes, including preterm birth and congenital syphilis.

### Description

The project will characterize Treponema pallidum-driven histopathologic and molecular changes at the maternal-placental-fetal immune interface and link maternal disease and treatment timing, treponemal burden, placental histopathology, and transcriptome profiles with preterm birth and congenital syphilis outcomes.
