Description
This project aims to investigate the mechanisms of the use, underuse, and unsafe use of antihypertensive medications to prevent aging-related multimorbidity, including Alzheimer’s disease and cardiovascular disease. It seeks to train the next generation of patient-oriented, aging-related research scientists in hypertension pharmacoepidemiology. The project will leverage existing studies such as SPRINT, ACCORD, and REGARDS to assess the impact of blood pressure treatment according to frailty status, pharmacy density, and medication effects on cognitive function and white matter lesions.
