This NIH-funded project establishes a Clinical and Data Coordinating Center and a consortium of 30 ALS centers to conduct a large longitudinal study of ALS patients and at-risk individuals, collecting diverse biomarker data to advance ALS research and treatment.

Description

The objective of this proposal, called Access for ALL in ALS (ALL-ALS), is to establish 1) a Clinical and Data Coordinating Center, 2) an ALS Clinical Research Consortium of 30 US ALS centers, and 3) a prospective, longitudinal observational and biomarker study of over 2000 ALS patients and 500 healthy participants with gene mutations known to cause ALS or at high risk. The activities will be carried out by the Neurological Clinical Research Institute (NCRI) of Mass General Hospital as the Coordinating Center, Barrow Neurological Institute as the Site Monitoring and Outcomes Training Center, in partnership with the Northeast ALS Consortium (NEALS). The study will include collection of clinical, biofluid, digital, and imaging biomarker data, with data shared in NIH ALS repositories to support research and therapeutic development.
