Description
This project aims to understand the role of specialized bladder mesenchyme (SAM) in regulating bladder sensory innervation and urothelial integrity, with the goal of identifying new therapeutic targets for Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome (IC/BPS) that could reduce reliance on opioids. The research involves genetic, pharmacologic, and other approaches in mice coupled to single-cell transcriptomics in mice and patients to provide a basis for effective, non-addictive therapies for IC/BPS.
