Description

The Biospecimen Repository and Pathology Core (CF1) supports basic and translational research efforts of the SPORE. It plays a central role in collecting, annotating, storing, distributing, and tracking tissue and blood biospecimens from research protocol participants. CF1 provides expert histopathological evaluation of tumor samples from patients and models, assists in selecting appropriate tissue for research, and enables creation of tissue microarrays (TMAs). It performs and interprets immunohistochemical and FISH assays, provides digital archiving of TMA images, and assesses tumor response to therapy, including mutational annotation using the MSK-IMPACT platform. CF1 links specimens to the clinical sarcoma database within CRDB, collaborating with the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core and the Administrative Core, establishing a cost-effective infrastructure. It is integrated with the MSK Pathology Core and the sarcoma clinical database.
