Research project funded by NIH/NCI to study the link between obesity and colorectal cancer prognosis through body composition and thromboinflammation analysis using AI and biomarkers.
Description
This study aims to understand the obesity-cancer link by analyzing body composition and thromboinflammation pathways in colorectal cancer patients. Using AI-powered CT scan analysis, the study will generate volumetric measures of adipose tissue and muscle mass, and examine their association with treatment toxicity and outcomes. It will also investigate biomarkers of thromboinflammation in relation to visceral obesity and survival, leveraging longitudinal data from 1,200 colorectal cancer patients enrolled in the ColoCare Study.
