This award funds the development of a standardized 'Challenge Core' to support vaccine efficacy testing for C. difficile using murine and hamster models, facilitating research across multiple projects.

Description

The central goal of the Oklahoma C. difficile U19 program is to advance a second-generation vaccine for C. difficile by revealing mechanisms that limit protective vaccine-induced responses. To achieve this, challenge experiments using relevant animal models are required to test vaccine efficacy. The program includes three research projects that will benefit from a standardized 'Challenge Core' service. This core will develop and provide murine and hamster challenge models, ensuring standardization and experimental rigor, and will be accessible to other investigators.
