This award funds research to develop a novel HIV vaccine using DNA-LNP technology to induce durable cellular and humoral immunity, aiming for long-term protection against HIV.
Description
The overall goal of this proposal is to develop a vaccination strategy that induces strong and durable humoral and cellular immunity against HIV, providing long-term protection even with low neutralizing antibody responses using DNA-LNP technology. The study compares the immunogenicity of DNA-LNPs with mRNA-LNPs expressing SIV Gag in rhesus macaques, demonstrating potent and lasting CD8 T cell and antibody responses with DNA-LNPs.
