Description
The project aims to investigate the role of sensory interoceptive nerves in lung development and function, using a fetal sheep model. It will delineate neural connectivity, assess the impact of denervation and stimulation on lung morphology and respiratory function, and record nerve traffic throughout development. The outcomes will enhance understanding of lung diseases originating during development, such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia, apnea of prematurity, sudden infant death syndrome, and asthma.
