Role of a novel human mast cell G protein coupled receptor in Allergy and Inflammation

This NIH grant funds research on a novel human mast cell G protein coupled receptor to better understand allergic and inflammatory disorders such as asthma and psoriasis using new animal models.

Description

Mast cells are important for allergic and inflammatory disorders including asthma and psoriasis. Although mice have been used to study these diseases, the target receptor present in mouse mast cells is different from the one found in human mast cells. We developed new animal models expressing the human receptor, which provides new preclinical models to study the mechanisms involved in asthma and psoriasis.
