The award supports research to understand the role of complement activation in thrombosis among MPN patients with the JAK2V617F mutation, aiming to identify mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets to reduce thrombosis risk.

Description

This project aims to define how complement activation contributes to thrombosis in patients with JAK2V617F myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). The study will evaluate complement and ProS-MerTK pathways involved in inflammation and thrombosis, using human blood microfluidics and mouse models to assess if complement inhibition can reduce vascular occlusion and thrombosis.
