Description
This project aims to develop tissue engineering approaches to recreate critical functions of the periosteum, the tissue responsible for autograft healing, to improve bone allograft healing and integration. It involves developing a tissue engineered periosteum incorporating mesenchymal stem cells and osteoprogenitors within degradable PEG-based hydrogels, enhancing host tissue infiltration and reducing fibrosis through matrix cue tuning, and delivering periosteal paracrine cues via optimized TEP matrices.
