Description

This project aims to quantify systemic metabolic fluxes during cold exposure in mice using isotope-labeled fuels and kinetic studies, hypothesizing that cold-induced thermogenesis (CIT) is largely fueled from fat stores but critically dependent on carbohydrate sources from the liver. The study will provide a foundational quantitative framework for understanding how animals generate heat by measuring whole-body fuel turnover and fuel use in individual tissues during CIT.
