Description

The research objectives include investigating why the erythropoietic defect in DBA manifests after birth, studying the role of the erythroblastic island in the bone marrow in DBA and SCD, and identifying new targets and treatments for these diseases. The approach is divided into three projects focusing on ribosome biogenesis regulation, the erythromyeloblastic island's role, and testing new drugs. Expected outcomes include new models for ribosomal protein biology, understanding the erythroid niche's contribution to inflammation, and new therapies for bone marrow failure syndromes and sickle cell disease.
