The project aims to develop long-lasting antiviral immunotherapy by understanding the roles of TG-resident CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, especially their subsets, in controlling HSV-1 reactivation and testing immunotherapies to reduce disease recurrence and behavioral effects.

### Description

This project investigates how host memory CD4+ and CD8+ T cell subsets prevent HSV-1 reactivation and recurrent disease, and evaluates a T cell-based immunotherapy to protect against HSV-induced recurrent corneal diseases and mitigate associated stress, cognitive, and behavioral decline using a novel HLA transgenic mouse model of UV-B-induced HSV-1 reactivation.
