Award to Duke University for the Pilot/Exploratory Studies Core (PESC) to support innovative early-stage research on resilience in older adults, including five selected pilot studies. The project aims to accelerate translational research and improve understanding of mechanisms to enhance resilience to acute stressors in aging.

Description

The Duke OAIC Pilot/Exploratory Studies Core (PESC) will support early-stage research and guide the design and conduct of subsequent larger-scale studies to improve reserve and resilience to acute stressors in older adults. The PESC will actively solicit innovative proposals from investigators across disciplines, prioritizing early-stage investigators and those new to resilience science. Proposals will undergo a rigorous review process from the Independent Review Panel. Five pilot studies have been selected for the first year of the new cycle, focusing on various aspects of aging resilience and related biomarkers and outcomes.
